Abraham Jon Ortega Killed in San Antonio Pedestrian Accident on South W.W. White Road near Bridgeman Drive; Alvin Bates Arrested

San Antonio, Texas (January 20, 2023) – A man was killed Wednesday evening in a hit-and-run accident in San Antonio’s East Side, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 6:45 p.m., January 18, near the intersection of South W.W. White Road and Bridgeman Drive.

Police said Abraham Jon Ortega, 25, was walking across the roadway when he was struck by a northbound Dodge Durango driven by Alvin Charles Bates, 43.

Ortega was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bates fled the scene after the accident. He was later arrested and has been charged with failure to stop and render aid resulting in death, a second-degree felony. His bond is set at $60,000.

The police are investigating the crash.
