San Marcos, Texas (May 3, 2022) – A 16-year-old was killed Friday evening in a three-vehicle crash, involving a bus, in San Marcos, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened just before 5:00 p.m., April 29, at the intersection of Aquarena Springs Drive and Charles Austin Drive.

Authorities said Addison Harley, 16, of San Marcos, was driving a black Dodge Charger when he rear-ended a Texas State University bus, which had 12 students inside, and was stopped at a red light waiting to turn left onto Charles Austin Drive.

The Charger then spun around and struck a Ford Mustang that was also waiting at the red light.

Harley, and his passenger, his 17-year-old pregnant girlfriend, were taken to Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle with serious injuries, where Harley was declared brain dead on Sunday.

Harley’s family said that he suffered a seizure behind the wheel of the car, causing him to lose control and slam into the back of the Texas State bus. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family with the expenses.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
