Alfredo Cuellar, Arnold Torres, and Leopoldo Arreola Killed in Andrews County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 1788 near Gardendale

Andrews County, Texas (August 21, 2023) – Three people were killed, and two others were injured early Sunday morning in a head-on collision in Andrews County, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 3:17 a.m., August 20, on FM 1788, about 10 miles north of Gardendale.

Authorities said 40-year-old Leopoldo Arreola, of Midland, was driving a 2012 Ford F-250 towing a horse trailer southbound when he veered into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into a 2021 Ford F-250 driven by 21-year-old Alfredo Cuellar, of Laredo.

Cuellar and his passenger, 21-year-old Arnold Torres of San Antonio, were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, 22-year-old Juan Lopez, also of Laredo, was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

Arreola was also pronounced dead at the scene. His 14-year-old passenger, also of Midland, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
