Anthony Cathey Jr Killed in Car Crash on FM 973 in Travis County

Anthony Cathey Jr Killed in Travis County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 973 

Travis County, Texas (August 25, 2020) – Three people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday night in eastern Travis County, according to officials.

The fatal crash happened around 8:00 p.m., August 21, at 7221 N. FM 973, just north of the Old Decker Creek Bridge.

DPS said Anthony Cathey Jr, 35, of Manor, was driving a 2005 GMC Yukon Denali northbound when he crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 2015 Nissan Altima driven by Victor Lares, 30, of Austin.

The GMC caught fire after the crash.

Cathey, Lares, and a female passenger in the GMC were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
