Andrews County, Texas (May 12, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was injured Monday morning in an 18-wheeler crash in Andrews County, just 4 miles southwest of Andrews, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 11:28 a.m., May 10, on State Highway 115.

DPS said two 18-wheelers were traveling southwest on the highway when one of them, driven by Hector Murua, 42, of Odessa, slowed down to make a right turn and was rear-ended by the other 18-wheeler, which failed to control its speed.

Murua was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver, Antonio Torres, 62, was taken to Permian Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
