April Melendez Killed in Car Crash on MLK Blvd in Lubbock

April Melendez Killed in North Lubbock Two-Vehicle Crash at Municipal Drive and North MLK Boulevard

Lubbock, Texas (December 14, 2022) – A woman was killed early Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in North Lubbock, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened just after 1:30 a.m., December 13, in the 700 block of North MLK Boulevard at the intersection of East Municipal Drive.

Authorities said 31-year-old April Melendez was approaching a stop sign when she collided with a pick-up truck at the intersection.

Melendez was taken to UMC, where she later died.

The pickup truck driver, 34-year-old Juan Lucio, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
