David Wheatley Killed in Odessa Pedestrian Accident on N. County Road West

Odessa, Texas (December 21, 2022) – A 36-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian accident Tuesday morning in Odessa, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident occurred on December 20, in the 7200 block of N. County Road West.

Authorities said Arturo Cerros, 31, was driving a white 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche when he drove onto the shoulder to pass cars along the roadway and struck David Wheatley, 36, who was walking on the eastbound shoulder.

Wheatley was killed in the crash.

Cerros was arrested for the offense of Criminally Negligent Homicide – a State Jail Felony.

An investigation into the crash is underway. Anyone with any information regarding the accident or who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Odessa Police Department- Homicide Unit.
