Brittany Esquivel Hospitalized after Taylor County Crash on U.S. Highway 84 near Lawn

Taylor County, Texas (October 5, 2022) – Brittany Amber Esquivel, 35, of Pfugerville, was injured after she was involved in a deadly crash Sunday night in south Taylor County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at around 8:50 p.m. Sunday, October 2, on U.S. Highway 84, about a half mile south of Lawn.

DPS said Esquivel was driving a 2010 four-door car southbound on U.S. Highway 84 when she rear-ended a 1999 pickup truck stopped the inside the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 84.

The pickup truck lights were not activated. After the crash, both vehicles veered off the road to the west and burst into flames.

The driver of the pickup truck, Juan Lucio Torres, 75, of Lawn, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Esquivel, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to an Abilene hospital with incapacitating injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
