Carl Oldham and Deborah Oldham ID’d as 2 Victims Killed in Powderly Motorcycle Crash on U.S. Highway 271 North

Powderly, Texas (September 5, 2019) – The two people who were killed Monday night in an alleged DUI crash in Powderly have been identified as Carl Oldham, 71, and Deborah Oldham, 68, according to authorities.

The fatal accident occurred at around 10:45 p.m. Monday, September 2 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 271 and Farm to Market Road 2648.

Authorities said Amanda West, 40, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe on U.S. Highway 271 when she failed to yield the right of way at a red light. As West’s Tahoe proceeded through the intersection, her vehicle collided with a motorcycle that was traveling northbound.

The two occupants of the motorcycle, Carl and Deborah, were both ejected from their bike upon the impact. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

West was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.

No further details were given regarding the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
