Claudio Romero Killed in Freestone County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 45

Freestone County, Texas (February 13, 2020) – A man was killed Thursday evening in a two-vehicle crash in Freestone County, south of Fairfield, according to authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 6:00 p.m., February 11, on Interstate 45.

DPS said Claudio Romero, 21, of Ennis, was driving a Ford Explorer northbound on the interstate when he lost control on a patch of ice and slid into the path of an 18-wheeler, resulting in a collision.

Romero was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details regarding the crash were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
