Constable Matt Ortego Injured in Vidor Two-Vehicle Crash on Main Street

Vidor, Texas (August 27, 2022) – An Orange County Precinct 4 was injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Vidor, according to the authorities.

The crash happened on August 26, on Main Street.

Authorities said at around 12:10 p.m., the Texas Highway Patrol called for an officer needs assistance call, and Constable Matt Ortego responded to the call with his red and blue emergency lights and sirens activated.

While arriving at the intersection, a company van struck Constable Ortego’s vehicle.

Ortego and the other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
