Daniel Adkins Killed in Rockport Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 35

Rockport, Texas (August 4, 2021) – According to the police, one person was killed on Friday, July 23, in a two-vehicle crash in Rockport.

The fatal crash happened around 2:36 p.m., in the 3900 block of State Highway 35 North, in front of the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites.

Police said Daniel Adkins, 76 of Fulton, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Corvette northbound on the highway when he left the roadway, overcorrected and crossed into the southbound lanes.

Derek Boggess, 29, of Corpus Christi, was driving a 2017 F-250 pickup southbound, and he took evasive action to avoid a collision, but he couldn’t do so, and he ended up crashing into the Corvette.

The impact knocked the Corvette backwards, and it came to rest in front of the hotel while the Ford ran off the westbound side of the highway into a large retention pond, and it came to rest right-side up.

Adkins was taken to ER 24/7 Rockport, where he was pronounced dead.

Boggess and his passenger were uninjured in the crash.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
