Daniel Thurman Killed in T-Bone Crash at Gateway North Boulevard and McCombs Street in El Paso

Daniel Thurman ID’d as 1 of 2 Teens Killed in El Paso Crash at Gateway North Boulevard and McCombs Street

El Paso, Texas (June 23, 2023) – One of the two teens who died following a T-bone collision on Wednesday afternoon in El Paso has been identified as 19-year-old Daniel Riley Thurman and 18-year-old Riley Hernandez.

The tragic crash occurred at about 2:29 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the intersection of 11300 Gateway North Boulevard and 11400 McCombs Street.

Authorities said Thurman was driving a 2010 Toyota Scion XB on Gateway North when he failed to stop at a red light and collided with a 2016 Jeep Patriot that was traveling southbound on McCombs Street, driven by 31-year-old Laneisa Speller.

Thurman and his passenger, Hernandez, were transported to a hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. Speller and her 8-year-old passenger were injured.

Running a red light played a role in the accident, which remains under investigation.
