Danny Wilford Killed in Hays County Three-Vehicle Crash on RM 165 at US 290

Hays County, Texas (February 12, 2022) – One person was killed, and two others were injured on Thursday in a three-vehicle crash in Hays County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash occurred around 5:51 p.m., on February 10, at the intersection of RM 165 and U.S. Highway 290.

DPS said a 2014 Dodge 3500 pickup truck was attempting to turn left on RM 165 from U.S. Highway 290 when it crashed into an eastbound 2017 Freightliner dump truck driven by Danny Wilford, 34.

The impact caused the dump truck to roll over onto its side, hit a light pole, and burst into flames.

A Ford F150 swerved to miss the crash, went into a ditch, and rolled over.

Wilford was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dodge driver and the Ford driver were taken to St. David’s South Medical Center in Austin with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation
