Austin, Texas – The 10-year-old boy who was killed Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash in East Austin has been identified as DeErick Williams II, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 7:20 p.m., February 12, near the 200 block of the southbound U.S. 183 toll road.

Police said a hatchback crashed into a sedan that had stopped in the middle lane of the highway with its vehicle hazard lights on. 

Williams was a passenger in the sedan and was killed in the crash. Another child was also in the sedan but it was not disclosed if the child was injured. 

The sedan driver was uninjured in the crash and was not impaired. 

The driver of the hatchback suffered a minor injury and cooperated with the investigators.
