Kenneth Pierson Killed, Rafaela Rodriguez and Rosa Portillo Injured in Erath County Two-Vehicle Crash on US Highway 377

Erath County, Texas (February 2, 2020) – A man was killed, and two other people were injured on Saturday in a head-on collision north of Stephenville in Erath County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash occurred just after noon, February 1, on US Highway 377 near Timber Creek Road.

DPS said a 2007 Chrysler 300 was heading eastbound on the highway when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into a 2016 Dodge Journey.

The impact caused the Chrysler to catch fire and the Dodge to leave the roadway and roll onto its top before coming to a rest.

The Chrysler driver, 26-year-old Kenneth Pierson, III, of Dublin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dodge driver, Rafaela Rodriguez, 55 of Arlington, was airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth in unknown condition.

Rosa Portillo, 50 of Odessa, who was a passenger in the Dodge, was taken by ambulance to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Stephenville with unknown injuries.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
