Diego Hernandez Killed in Car Accident at US Highway 83/84 and North Beltway Road in Abilene

18-Year-Old Diego Hernandez Killed in Abilene Two-Vehicle Crash at US Highway 83/84 and North Beltway Road

Abilene, Texas (March 12, 2020) – An 18-year-old was killed and several other people, including a 1-year-old boy, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in Abilene near the Jones County line, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash took place just before 5:30 p.m. March 11, at the intersection of US Highway 277/83/84 and North Beltway Road.

DPS said a grey Ford sedan was traveling westbound on North Beltway Road when it disregarded a stop sign and tried to cross US Highway 277/83/84. The sedan was then T-boned by a southbound truck at the intersection.

18-year-old Diego Hernandez was killed in the crash.

A 1-year-old boy who was revived by CPR at the scene was airlifted to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth but is expected to survive.

Three female victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash, according to the DPS.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
