Donald Hollan Struck, Killed by Police SUV on IH-30 near Cumby

Donald Hollan Killed in Cumby Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 30

Cumby, Texas (January 21, 2021) – A pedestrian was fatally hit by a police SUV early Wednesday morning, about five miles east of Cumby, according to the DPS.

The deadly accident happened around 12:32 a.m., January 20, in the IH-30 south service road.

DPS said Donald Hollan, 45, of Westland, Michigan, was driving a truck when it broke down on the interstate. He stepped into the roadway and was struck by a westbound 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe belonging to the Cumby Police Department.

Hollan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Chevrolet driver, Jonathan Painter, 34, of Commerce, was uninjured in the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
