Woman Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Clearwood Drive near Gulf Freeway

Houston, Texas (September 26, 2022) – A woman died after she was struck early Monday morning by a hit-and-run driver in Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The deadly crash occurred at about 1:20 a.m. on Clearwood Drive near the Gulf Freeway.

Witnesses told the police that a Dodge Charger was traveling down the street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and hit a light pole. The vehicle then flipped and struck a woman who was walking across the road.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The female driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot. It was not immediately known if she was drunk at the time of the accident.

Three passengers in the vehicle stayed at the scene and were cooperative, police said.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
