Woodville, Texas (December 14, 2019) – A Tyler County Sheriff’s deputy and a civilian were injured Friday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash in Woodville, according to the DPS.

The crash occurred around 1:00 p.m. on December 13, at the intersection of US 69 and Wheat Street.

DPS said the deputy was responding to a call heading westbound Wheat Street with his emergency lights turned on. All northbound traffic on US 69 stopped to yield for the deputy, but a 2018 Chevrolet passenger vehicle went into a turning lane and crashed into the deputy’s patrol car.

The Chevrolet driver, Donnie Releford, 32, of Woodville, was taken by a personal vehicle to the Tyler County hospital with minor injuries.

The deputy was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
