Driver Killed, Another Injured in Abilene Crash on Highway 277
2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 277 in Abilene Kills One driver and Injures Another Tuesday morning
Abilene, Texas (July 5, 2022) – One driver was killed and another driver was injured in a Tuesday morning collision south of Abilene, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The deadly crash occurred just before 8:30 a.m. on Highway 277, approximately 25 miles south of Abilene.
DPS said a white SUV was heading northbound toward Abilene when, for an unknown reason, it collided with a dark-colored vehicle that was traveling southbound toward San Angelo.
The dark-colored vehicle flipped on its roof upon the impact and sustained heavy damage.
The driver of the dark-colored vehicle died at the scene.
The SUV driver was trapped inside the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency responders. She was then taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
The name of the deceased person has not been released pending notification of the family.
Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided. The accident remains under investigation.
