Ronald Barnes Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 27 in Amarillo

Ronald Barnes ID’d as Motorcyclist Killed in Amarillo Crash on Interstate 27 and Washington Street

Amarillo, Texas (October 31, 2022) – The Amarillo Police Department has identified the motorcyclist who died on Sunday evening following a traffic collision in Amarillo as Ronald Walter Barnes, 42, of Amarillo.

The deadly crash happened at about 4:19 p.m. Sunday, October 30 in the area of Interstate 27 and Washington Street.

Amarillo Police said Barnes was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Washington Street when he was hit by a 2022 Hyundai SUV that was eastbound on Interstate 27 South frontage road.

Barnes was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the SUV had only minor injuries.

The Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department is investigating the crash.
