Jonathan Ornelas Killed in Hit-and-Run at CR 437 and US 285 in Reeves County

Jonathan Ornelas Killed in Reeves County Two-Vehicle Crash at County Road 437 and U.S. Highway 285

Reeves County, Texas (August 2, 2022) – A man was killed early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run accident in Reeves County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 1:05 a.m., on July 31, at the intersection of County Road 437 and U.S. Highway 285.

DPS said Jonathan Robert Ornelas, 31, was driving a 2022 Dodge Ram when another vehicle crashed into his car.

The force of the impact caused the Dodge to come to a complete stop at the intersection.

Ornelas was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The other vehicle fled the scene after the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash. Anyone with any information about the crash is asked to contact the Texas Department of Public Safety at 432-498-2131 or the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office at 432-445-4901.
