Efrain Guerrero Jr Killed in Edinburg Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 281

Edinburg, Texas (June 29, 2021) – Two people were killed Sunday morning in a wrong-way crash in Edinburg, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 5:30 a.m., June 27, in the 900 block of North Highway 281.

Police said Alex Jaramillo, 20, was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway when he crashed head-on into a silver Chevy Volt driven by Efrain Guerrero Jr., 31.

Jaramillo was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Guerrero was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The crash remains under investigation.
