Elisabeth Hildebrand and Katharina Forese Killed in Gaines County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 214 at FM 2056

Gaines County, Texas (August 16, 2023) – Two women were killed Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash in Gaines County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on August 14, at the intersection of State Highway 214 and FM 2056.

DPS said Luis Carlos Ruiz, 40, of Carlos, New Mexico, was traveling northbound on SH 214 with a trailer when he attempted to turn left on FM 2056 and struck Elisabeth Hildebrand,55, of Seminole, who was traveling southbound.

Hildebrand was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Katharina Forese, 60, of Seminole, was taken to Yoakum County Medical Center, where she later died.

All individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
