Elizabeth Leigh Lindsey Killed in Van Zandt County Two-Vehicle Crash on IH-20

Van Zandt County, Texas (September 4, 2019) – A person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday evening in Van Zandt County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash occurred around 4:55 p.m. September 2, on IH-20, west of the city of Canton.

DPS said a 2006 Chevrolet HHR was heading eastbound in the inside lane of the highway when the driver drifted into the center median, overcorrected to the right, traveled into the outside lane and struck a 2018 Kenworth T900 truck.

The impact caused the Chevrolet to flip over severally, ejecting the driver.

The Chevrolet driver, Elizabeth Leigh Lindsey, 29, of Canton, was airlifted to Christus Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, where she later died.

The Kenworth driver, Gary Lee Hoggard, 30, of Gladwin, MI, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
