Firefighter Injured after DUI Suspect Crashes into Houston Fire Station on Telephone Road; Christopher Wayne Rogers Arrested

Houston, Texas (February 27, 2020) – A firefighter was injured Wednesday night after a suspected drunk driver crashed into a fire station in southeast Houston, according to a local news source.

The crash took place around 10:00 p.m. February 26, at Fire Station No. 18, in the 600 block of Telephone Road near Lockwood.

Authorities said Christopher Wayne Rogers, 38, was driving a black car at a high rate of speed when he slammed into the front of the building.

Rogers crashed into the lounge area where firefighters eat and hang out inside. The car hit a row of refrigerators, knocking one of them into a firefighter.

The firefighter was taken to the hospital with a head injury, possibly a concussion. He was treated and later released.

The crash left a gaping hole in the brick wall.

Rogers was arrested for driving under the influence. His charges could be upgraded to intoxication assault of a public servant and that he may have to pay the city in damages.

The crash remains under investigation.
