Gerard Jimenez Killed in Wilson County Two-Vehicle Crash at Texas 97 and FM 1344

Wilson County, Texas (January 7, 2020) – A Floresville councilman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Wilson County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened around 12:55 p.m. January 6, at the intersection of Texas 97 and FM 1344, miles west of Floresville.

DPS said Gerard Jimenez was driving a 2006 Mercedes northbound on FM 1344 when he disregarded a red light at the intersection and was hit by a 2009 Jeep, which was heading eastbound on Highway 97.

Jimenez was pronounced dead at the scene. He represented Place 4 on the City Council and was re-elected to the council position in November 2017.

The driver and passenger of the Jeep were taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
