Hastings High School Student Struck by Car on High Star Drive in Houston; Chinyere Iheagwam Arrested

18-Year-Old Hastings High School Student Injured in Houston Pedestrian Accident on High Star Drive; Chinyere Iheagwam Arrested

Houston, Texas (October 24, 2019) – An 18-year-old Hastings High School student was critically injured in a pedestrian accident Wednesday afternoon in west Houston, according to officials.

The accident occurred at about 2:40 p.m. on October 23, on High Star Drive near the west Houston school.

Officials said the student was crossing the street with a group of other students when he was hit by an Alief Independent School District employee identified as 55-year-old Chinyere Iheagwam.

Iheagwam also crashed into another vehicle. 

The student was rushed to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in critical condition.

Iheagwam was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was booked into the Harris County jail.

An investigation is underway.
