11-Year-Old Boy Killed and Several Others Injured in Italy Truck Crash on Interstate 35
Italy, Texas (January 9, 2019) – A child was killed and several other people were injured Saturday morning in a traffic accident in Italy, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The tragic accident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, January 5 on Interstate 35, approximately one mile south of Bill Lewis Road.
According to police, a Chrysler van was involved previous crash and had disabled in the center lane of the interstate 35 when a Dodge 1500 failed to avoid it and slammed into it.
Five people were transported to nearby hospitals, where an 11-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries. The conditions of the four other patients were not immediately disclosed.
The names of the deceased and the injured victims have not been released.
The crash remains under investigation by police.
