Heriberto Solis Killed in Cameron County Three-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 48

Cameron County, Texas (October 25, 2022) – A man was killed Sunday night in a three-vehicle crash in Cameron County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 10:15 p.m., October 23, on State Highway 48.

DPS said a 2003 Ford Ranger was stationary and facing southbound without its lights in the eastbound lanes of the highway.

A man was driving a 2005 GMC Sierra eastbound in the outside lanes of the highway when he collided with the Ford.

The impact pushed the Ford into the westbound lanes, where it was struck by a westbound 2007 Chevrolet Malibu that was traveling in the outside lanes.

The Ford driver, Heriberto Solis, 71, was ejected and was taken to Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, where he later died.

No further details were provided.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
