Howard Wright Killed, Xavier Montalvo Injured in Car Crash on Slide Road in Lubbock

Howard Wright Killed and Xavier Montalvo Injured in Lubbock Two-Vehicle Crash on Slide Road at 75th Street

Lubbock, Texas (February 25, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Lubbock, according to the police.

The fatal crash occurred just before 3:00 p.m. February 24, in the 7500 block of Slide Road at 75th Street.

Police said Howard Wright, 69, was driving a Nissan Murano and was at a stop sign facing eastbound at 5200 75th Street. He then pulled onto Slide Road and was hit by a southbound Dodge Charger driven by 19-year-old Xavier Montalvo.

Wright was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Montalvo was taken to Covenant Medical Center with moderate injuries.

According to witnesses, the vehicles were racing at the time.

The Major Crash Unit is conducting the investigation.
