Hunter Coco, Jonathon Coco Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on State Park Road in Lockhart
Hunter Coco and Jonathon Coco ID’d as Two Central Texas Firefighters Killed in Lockhart Crash on State Park Road /FM 20 and San Jacinto Street
Lockhart, Texas (June 20, 2022) – Two Central Texas firefighters were killed in a Monday afternoon crash in Lockhart, according to authorities.
The tragic wreck, involving a fire truck, happened at about 1:45 p.m. on State Park Road/FM 20 and San Jacinto Street.
Authorities said a woman was traveling southbound on San Jacinto Street and was attempting to turn into State Park Road when her vehicle was hit by a Maxwell Community Volunteer Fire Department brush truck. The impact caused the brush truck to overturn.
Two members of the Maxwell Community Volunteer Fire Department, Hunter Coco, 21, and Jonathon Coco, 25, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman driving the other vehicle had only minor injuries.
Police temporarily closed State Park Road/FM 20, from S. Medina Street and Patton Road during the investigation. Authorities said failure to yield the right of way played a role on the part of the woman.
No further information was available. The police are investigating the crash.
