Jason Wright Killed in Hartley County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 87

Hartley County, Texas – According to the DPS, Dalhart High School’s principal was killed in a head-on crash early Wednesday morning in Hartley County.

The fatal crash happened just before 1:00 a.m., on US 87, about 10 miles east of Hartley.

DPS said Jason Scot Wright, 54, was driving a Chevy Trailblazer westbound on the highway when he veered into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into an eastbound 18-wheeler.

Scot was taken to Moore County Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Scot joined the school district in 2018.

No other details regarding the crash were provided.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
