Jerry Broussard Injured in Jefferson County Bicycle Accident at SH 347 and FM 365

Jefferson County, Texas (June 18, 2021) – According to the DPS, one person was injured Thursday morning in a bicycle accident in Jefferson County.

The accident happened around 8:50 a.m., June 17, at the intersection of SH 347 and FM 365.

DPS said a 2017 Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound on FM 365 approaching the intersection while Jerry Broussard, 65, of Nederland, was riding a bicycle westbound on SH 347 and was attempting to turn left onto FM 365. 

The Nissan driver approached the intersection and attempted to turn right onto SH 347. He drove onto the improved shoulder and hit Broussard.

Broussard was taken to Christus Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth in Beaumont with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Nissan driver, a 45-year-old Orange County man, was released at the scene.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
