Jimmy Crosson and Steven Stuart Killed in Comanche County 6-Vehicle Crash on US 67

Comanche County, Texas (June 13, 2023) – Two people were killed, and two others were injured Saturday evening in a 6-vehicle crash in Comanche County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 5:15 p.m., June 10, on US 67, three miles east of Comanche.

DPS said a Ford pickup truck and a Nissan pickup were traveling eastbound on the highway. The Ford attempted to pass the Nissan by getting into the westbound lane, and an oncoming car could not get enough time to fully move out of the way. This resulted in a chain-reaction crash involving the Ford, the Nissan, the car and three westbound motorcycles.

The Nissan driver, Jimmy Crosson, 78, of Comanche, and one of the motorcycles, Steven Stuart, 56, of Coleman, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the other motorcyclists was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The third motorcyclist sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ford driver fled the scene after the crash. The truck was described as a newer model Ford with damage on the left side.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
