John Page Killed in Longview Hit-and-Run Crash on North 4th Street

Longview, Texas (February 4, 2020) – The man in a wheelchair who was killed last month in a hit-and-run crash in Longview has been identified as John Garnett Page, 65, of Longview, according to the police.

The accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. January 17, in the 3300 block of North Fourth Street near Lowe’s.

Police said Page was trying to cross the street, outside of a crosswalk, in his wheelchair when he was hit by a pickup truck.

Page was taken to a Longview medical center where he later died.

A second pedestrian, James Carl Frazier, 24, of Gilmer, was walking in the southbound inside lane of Fourth Street trying to help Page when he was hit by the truck, as it was fleeing the scene.

Frazier declined medical treatment.

The pickup was described as charcoal, dark gray, or dark pewter 1999 to 2006 Chevrolet or GMC club-cab pickup with a chrome strip on the lower door guard.

The driver of the pickup has been identified as a 16-year-old girl. Her name has not been released because she is a minor.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

We pass our condolences to the family and friends of John Garnett Page.
