Jose Abel Gonzalez Killed in El Paso Motorcycle Crash at N. Stanton Street and E. Franklin Avenue

El Paso, Texas (December 11, 2020) – A man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Wednesday in downtown El Paso, according to police.

The crash happened just before 7:00 p.m., December 9, near the intersection of N. Stanton Street and E. Franklin Avenue.

Authorities said Jose Abel Gonzalez, 32, of El Paso, was riding a motorcycle when he rear-ended a Toyota Sequoia that made an illegal turn in front of him.

The force of the impact caused the motorcycle to skid across the roadway and hit a man who was walking in a crosswalk.

Gonzalez was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The Toyota driver and the pedestrian were uninjured in the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases, the accident results in death.
