Jose Castillo Killed in Fiery 2-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 349 in Midland County

Jose Castillo Among Two Killed in Midland County Collision on State Highway 349 and County Road 140

Midland County, Texas (August 4, 2022) – Jose Alferez Castillo, 55, of Midland, was among two men who were killed in a fiery two-vehicle collision early Wednesday morning in Midland County.

The deadly crash occurred at about 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, on State Highway 349 and County Road 140.

Authorities said Castillo was driving a semi-truck southbound on State Highway 349 while James William Featherston, 38, of Oglesby, was driving a Dodge Ram 2500 eastbound on County Road 140

Featherston reportedly failed to yield the right of way at the intersection of State Highway 349 and County Road 140 and collided with Castillo’s semi-truck. Both vehicles caught fire upon the impact.

Castillo and Featherston were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Further details regarding the crash were not immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation by DPS.
