Alton, Texas (July 23, 2021) – According to the authorities, an elderly man was killed Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash north of Alton.

The deadly crash happened around 2:40 p.m., July 22, at the intersection of FM 1925 and FM 681.

Authorities said the man was driving a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis eastbound on FM 1925 when he failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and collided with a 2015 Ford F-150.

The Mercury driver, 83-year-old Jose Torres Mejia of Mission, was pronounced dead at the scene. His two passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
