9-Year-Old Julius Rendon ID’d as Boy Killed in Nolan County Crash on FM 608 near Roscoe

Nolan County, Texas (July 7, 2022) – The boy who died following a head-on crash on the Fourth of July in Nolan County has been identified as 9-Year-Old Julius Rendon. He was an incoming third-grader at Snyder ISD.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the tragic accident happened at about 10:00 p.m. Monday, July 4, on FM 608, approximately 1.82 miles south of Roscoe.

DPS said Ceasar J. Rendon, 36, of Roscoe, was driving a 2007 Cadillac Escalade northbound on FM 608 with his son Julius Rendon when, for an unknown reason, the Cadillac crossed the center median into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a southbound 2018 Ford Pickup.

Julius was transported to the Rolling Plains Hospital in Sweetwater, where he was declared dead while Ceasar was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene with major injuries. They were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, authorities said.

The driver of the Ford Pickup, Roddy M. Alexander, 42, and his passenger, Bonnie L. Jay, 36, both of Roscoe, were not injured in the crash. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.

Conditions in the area were clear and dry.

Further details regarding the crash were not immediately provided.

An investigation is underway.
