La Tonya Earl, Seliz Palacios Killed in Head-On Crash on Old Humble Road in Harris County

La Tonya Earl and Seliz Palacios Killed in Northeast Harris County Two-Vehicle Crash on Old Humble Road near Beltway 8

Harris County, Texas (February 15, 2020) – The two people who were killed in a head-on collision Friday morning in northeast Harris County have been identified as Seliz Palacios,19, and La Tonya Earl, 49, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 5:30 a.m. January 15, in the 15400 block of Old Humble Road, just north of Beltway 8.

Deputies said a cement truck had just left a cement mixing plant nearby and had made a U-turn on Old Humble Road when the truck’s drum started dumping wet cement onto the roadway. That is when a northbound light-colored SUV driven by Earl hit the wet cement on the road, jumped the median into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a southbound red sedan driven by Palacios.

Investigators said the roles of the drivers might be reversed.

Both Earl and Palacios were killed in the crash.

Earl was a well-known gospel singer in the Houston area. She worked as the Bethel’s Family Baptist Church Worship Creative Arts Director and sang in the church’s choir.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of La Tonya Earl and Seliz Palacios.

Who May Make a Wrongful Death Claim in Texas?

A wrongful death claim for a family member may be brought by spouses, children or parents. The State of Texas also allows the estate of the deceased to bring a survival action to recover for past medical expenses and conscious pain and suffering, as well as other non-economic damages which the deceased may have suffered before death. Texas does not permit brothers, sisters, cousins, or grandparents to assert any claims for the death of a family member.

Wrongful death claims requires an attorney who understands the complexity of the damages caused by a significant loss. The lawyer representing the client has the responsibility to hire the necessary experts to help prove the case.
