Lidia Salgado Carranza Killed in NW Harris County Car Crash at Barker Cypress and Queenston

Harris County, Texas (October 4, 2023) – A woman was killed Tuesday afternoon in a crash involving a Cy-Fair ISD school bus in northwest Harris County, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 1:20 p.m., October 3, in the area of Barker Cypress and Queenston.

Authorities said Lidia Salgado Carranza, 26, was driving a small Nissan Rogue SUV when she exited from a private driveway and failed to yield the right of way. The Cy-Fair ISD school bus driver, Donna Hill, 64, reportedly tried to veer left to avoid the SUV but hit it.

Carranza was taken to Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital in critical condition, where she later died. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Hill and three students on the bus were not seriously injured in the crash. A male student was treated at the scene for minor injuries and declined to be taken to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
