Lisa Merxbauer and Robin Williams Killed in Roscoe Two-Vehicle Crash at US 84 and Business US 84

Roscoe, Texas (August 3, 2023) – Two people were killed, and another was injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash 800 feet northwest of Roscoe, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 4:51 p.m., August 1, at the intersection of US 84 and Business US 84.

DPS said Lisa Whisenant Merxbauer, 66, of San Antonio, was driving a car southeast at the intersection while Nelson Sierra DeJesus, 56, of Sweetwater, was driving a semi-truck on US 84E.

Merxbauer failed to yield the right-of-way from a stop sign and entered the intersection, causing the semi-truck to hit her car on the driver’s side.

Merxbauer and her passenger, Robin Lawrence Williams, 65, of Lubbock, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

DeJesus was taken to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
