Lux Carter and Rose Morgan Killed, Rex Carter Injured in Northlake Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 35W

Northlake, Texas (February 3, 2021) – A woman and a young child were killed, and another child was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash Sunday afternoon in Northlake, according to police.

The deadly accident happened around 3:40 p.m., January 31, on Interstate 35W.

Police said an Audi A6 was traveling northbound on the interstate when it moved from the right lane to the left lane and collided with a northbound Toyota.

The impact pushed the Toyota into a concrete barrier, and it rolled over severally.

The Toyota driver, 59-year-old Rose Morgan, and her passenger, Lux Carter, 4, were pronounced dead at the scene. Rex Carter, 4, who was also a passenger in the Toyota, was airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital in serious condition.

A GoFundMe account has been created to help cover the costs of Rex’s medical treatment.

The Audi driver, Kendrick Demon Collins, 28, stopped after the crash but then drove away. He turned southbound on the highway, where he passed the crash scene and did not stop again. He pulled over for a flat tire and was found by an Argyle police officer who stayed with him until Northlake police.

Collins was then arrested and taken into custody and is facing two charges of accident involving death and a third charge of accident involving serious bodily injury. He was being held at the Denton County Jail on a $600,000 bond.

The police are investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
