Maggie Groom Killed in Brownsboro Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 31

Brownsboro, Texas (August 10, 2020) – According to a local news source, two high school graduates were killed, and another person was injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning between Brownsboro and Chandler.

The fatal crash happened at about 9:30 a.m., August 8, on Highway 31.

DPS said Zane Taylor, 19, a 2019 Grand Saline graduate, and Maggie Groom, 18, a 2020 Eustace graduate, were traveling westbound on the highway when their car went slightly off the shoulder. The driver overcorrected, crossed the centerline, and collided with a vehicle driven by Rachel Patterson, 30, of Eustace.

Both Taylor and Groom were pronounced dead at the scene.

Patterson was taken to UT Health in Tyler in an unknown condition.

All three involved people were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for Groom’s family.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Maggie Groom.
