Man and Dog Hit, Killed by Dump Truck on I-45 in Galveston County

Man and Dog Killed in Galveston County Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 45 at Tiki Island

Galveston County, Texas (March 9, 2023) – A homeless man and his dog were fatally hit by a dump truck Wednesday afternoon in Galveston County, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident happened shortly after noon, on March 8, on Interstate at Tiki Island.

Authorities said the man was walking across the causeway with his dogs when he and one of his dogs were hit by a dump truck.

The man was taken to a University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

One of the dogs died at the scene.

The second dog was taken to the Galveston Island Humane Society and is in good condition. It has been identified as 11-year-old Sooki from a microchip.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
