Man Killed, One Injured in Killeen Crash on State Highway 195 and Chaparral Road

Killeen, Texas (May 19, 2023) – A man was killed and one other person was injured in a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Killeen on Thursday morning, according to police.

The deadly crash happened at around 8:14 a.m. Thursday, May 18, at the intersection of State Highway 195 and Chaparral Road.

Police said a 4-door silver Toyota car was stopped for the red light in the inside northbound lane on State Highway 195 when it was struck from behind by a white Chevy pickup truck with a trailer, traveling northbound in the inside lane.

The driver of the Toyota, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was taken to Advent Health Central Texas in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Chevy sustained minor injuries and was transported to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights.

No other details were provided.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
