Maria Del Carmen Carralas ID’d as Woman Injured in El Paso Pedestrian Accident on Cabaret Drive

El Paso, Texas (July 29, 2022) – The woman who was seriously injured after she was struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in west El Paso has been identified as Maria Del Carmen Carralas, 72, according to the El Paso Police Department.

The crash occurred at about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, in the 400 block of Cabaret Drive.

El Paso Police said Carralas, a resident of west El Paso, was walking on the roadway when she was hit by a pickup truck that was pulling out of a private driveway.

Carralas was transported to a hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

The driver of the truck, Juan Lopez, 50, was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

Police closed Cabaret Drive and Carousel Drive as they investigated the crash. Motorists were being urged to seek an alternate route.

El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations is investigating the cause of the crash.
