Gabriella Padilla Killed and Five Injured in San Antonio Three-Vehicle Crash on Culebra Road and Zarzamora Street; Edwin Pena Arrested

San Antonio, Texas (January 2, 2022) – A woman was killed and five other people were injured Saturday evening in a three-vehicle crash in San Antonio’s Northwest Side, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened on January 1, at the intersection of Culebra Road and Zarzamora Street.

Police said a red Dodge truck was traveling eastbound on Culebra when it ran a red light and crashed into a Chevrolet truck that had a green light.

The force of the impact sent the Chevrolet through the intersection and it crashed into a Jeep Patriot that was stopped in the right northbound lane of N. Zarzamora Street.

Gabriella Padilla, 53, who was in the rear right passenger seat of the Chevrolet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other people in the Chevrolet were taken to University Hospital with serious injuries. One person in the Jeep was taken to the Brooke Army Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Dodge driver, Edwin Sanabna Pena, was taken to University Hospital with minor injuries. He was found to have been intoxicated and was booked for intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault. His bond was set at $375,000 for all of his charges combined. He is currently being detained in the Bexar County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Gabriella Padilla. We also wish the injured victims quick recoveries.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
